That’s the usual message I get when a friend/family get a new mobile, therefore also pertaining a new number. However my number is no different. Thankfully.
So, it’s that time of the year again. I’ve upgraded my mobile (much better contract I must say) and received it today – just as well since my other one was starting to give up on life, ha.
Actually, this time last year I was ranting about mobiles. I’m happier a lot this time round. Not because of the actual mobile though. Oddly enough I was more happy with the customer service given rather than the actual phone. The guy was really helpful and offered a contract and mobile, which catered to my needs; the bog standard calling and text-ing function. The most shocking thing was he provided me with his name; usually I have to ask for the person’s name – you know, so if something goes wrong I know who to point the finger at.
I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed that in my life.
Makes me wonder why company representives are reluctant to give their name consistently? Does this also happen where you live?
[Edit 19:53] Oh, for those who might be interested, I got a Sony Ericsson W890i.

*Googles your phone* Oooh, I like it! I think I have a couple friends that got the same one.
I think customer service reps usually give their names here. They say “Hi my name is — blah blah blah”
It’s good that you kept the same number! Such a hassle to change it.

I upgraded my phone last year when my previous phone went kaput. Likewise, it was the service that blew me away. The girl who served me was … younger than me (who thought I was younger than her … but that’s beside the point) but served me (and other customers) like a professional, as if she has been in the service line for aeons.
The functions of the phone were described in great detail, and she gave her personal perspectives and recommendations on what phones to choose. When I selected mine, she went to great pains to ensure that the phone is properly configured and in a state of ‘fully functional’ before I left the store.
But of course, as the days went past … I began to love the phone more than I loved the service. (Mere exposure effect. Heh. I see the phone everyday while I’ve only seen that particular staff once!)

I’ve always had a Nokia phone but i’ve heard that SE phones are good. Yeah I noticed that they don’t give out their name instantly unless of course if the customer asks for it. But sometimes others first give their name before moving on with their usual business which is good.
